Join us as the Diablo Symphony and local choral group WomenSing take our imaginations into the beyond with Gustav Holst’s The Planets, a seven-movement orchestral suite invoking planets of the Solar System and their respective astrological characters. In addition to performing the magical chorus in “Neptune, the Mystic”, WomenSing will open the concert with a surprise a capella choral work. The orchestra will then join forces with Christopher Richardson for Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, famed particularly for the pounding piano chords that launch its 1st movement. Richardson, winner of this season’s Yen Liang Young Artists Competition, is a resident of Danville and Junior at UC Berkeley. A National Chopin Foundation scholarship recipient and YoungArts Winner, he studies piano with Mack McCray.
