Auditions for musicians in the Diablo Symphony Orchestra take place year-round. Currently, auditions are open for violin, viola, cello and bass positions. Auditions for other instrument positions will be announced as they are needed. There are also opportunities for mentored positions in the string, wind, brass, and percussion sections, in which the new players will play “side-by-side” with their orchestral mentors. In some cases, the mentees will have the opportunity to be coached gratis by their DSO mentors, as well as to receive a modest stipend to defray expenses related to orchestra menteeship (parking, mileage, a limited number of lessons on their instrument).
We value having a team that brings a wide range of perspectives and identities including ethnicity, race, gender, socio-economic background, language, political and religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and abilities. Therefore, we especially seek applications from people who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color, transgender, gender-nonconforming, LGBTQ+, and people living with disabilities.
Please contact Robert Hamaker, Personnel Manager, at rhamdrum@astound.net, or 925-216-6293, if you have any questions or wish to set up an audition date and time.
