San Ramon Valley Chorale

The San Ramon Valley Chorale was conceived in 2016 by award- winning Director, Bruce Koliha, and a former student of his, Hayden Padgett. The two pulled together a unique blend of talented alumni from both Monte Vista and San Ramon Valley High Schools, as well as accomplished singers from religious and community organizations. Today the Chorale also includes a number of semi-professional and professional musicians from the greater tri-valley area and beyond.

It was both Koliha and Padgett’s hope that singers, who at one time had loved singing in high school and university choirs, but who had not found a quality group since that time, would find their way back to music with such a group. One founding member most aptly summed up the Chorale by saying, “It’s the choir you never knew was missing in your life until you joined”. Many members have echoed this sentiment, and the Chorale continues to draw on the deep vocal and musical excellence of the San Ramon Valley community.

The Chorale’s repertoire can best be described as classical, eclectic, challenging…and fun!  In just a few seasons, the Chorale has sung a variety of classic choral gems ranging from works by Mozart, Debussy, Rachmaninov, Ives, Gjeilo, Susa, Willan, Rossini and Vaughan Williams to a contemporary bluegrass mass! In addition to English, the group has sung works in French, German, Italian, Latin, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese and Gaelic.

The Chorale is always receptive to new members, both singers and volunteers!  Please contact us at srvchorale@gmail.com for inquiries.
