Chuxuejie Zhang is a young, passionate musician with great ambition. She
began violin studies at age 4 and started studying with Professor Xu Lv at the affiliated school of the Central Conservatory of Music in China at age 9. During her education in the Central Conservatory, she participated in the China Youth Chamber Music Group and the China Youth Symphony Orchestra. Zhang has taken part in various master classes, with the concertmaster of the Zürich Opera House, Xiaoming Wang (of the Stradivari String Quartet); Geoff Nuttall, of the St. Lawrence String Quartet; and Sunny Yang, of the Kronos Quartet. Zhang switched to viola when she was in her senior year and currently studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she got her Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance and is continuing to pursue her Master of Music Degree in viola performance with Professor Jay Liu. She is the winner of the 2019 SFCM low-string concerto competition.
